Open Chords A Shapes
The picture above shows the open A Major chord
Both open notes are the E.
The two root notes are on the open A string
and the A note at the 2nd fret on the G string.
The two remaining notes are the E note on the D string
and the C# note on the B string. Both at the 2nd fret.
All strings can be played on this one, but many players
prefer the voicing on the middle four strings.
The picture above shows the open A Minor chord
It differs from the A major by having the C# on the B string 2nd fret
dropped to the C on the B string 1st fret.
All remaining notes are exactly the same.
The sound produced has a more haunting quality that
lacks the fuller crisper sound of the major shape
